HWS syndrome and histamine intolerance

Did you know that people with the cervical spine syndrome (HWS syndrome) are more likely to develop histamine intolerance or to be affected by both at the same time? You can find out in our article how the connections are.

Every second German knows the painful neck problems or tension. A complex symptom structure is hidden behind HWS syndrome. The symptoms affect women rather than men and are independent of age.

The HWS syndrome

First of all, we should clarify what the so-called cervical spine syndrome is so that the connection to histamine intolerance later becomes clearer: This disease of the cervical spine is usually classified according to ICD-10 code with the diagnosis "M54.2" and is also "Cervical neuralgia" designated. There is a dysfunction of the cervical spine that leads to complaints. This can arise from a wide variety of ways, e.g. due to incorrect postures, accidents, severe physical work, through complications in one's own birth or sport. In the cervical spine syndrome, pain occurs in the cervical spine area and can radiate, among other things, to the arms, head or back. Many also suffer unpleasant accompanying symptoms.

What happens in HWS syndrome

Healthy.Bund, a service of the Federal Ministry of Health, explains: "In the back of the spine, the vertebrae form the vertebral canal. In the vertebral canal, the spinal canal runs. Nerve fibers run from the brain over the spinal cord in the body and form nerves there. Every nerve is responsible for a certain section of the skin and for certain muscles. These nerves are important, for example, and the muscles are possible." In the cervical spine syndrome, these nerves mentioned are now sometimes irritated or damaged.

Symptoms of HWS syndrome

The symptoms of a cervical spine are diverse and extensive. Often there are also complaints that are not in direct connection with the cervical spine (see side effects). Typical symptoms of a cervical spine can be:

  • Muscular hardening (myogeloses)
  • Tension
  • Pain in the neck, back and lumbar spine area
  • dizziness
  • nausea

Promotional symptoms:

  • Tinnitus
  • Noise
  • Feelings of numbness and feelings of tingling in the head as well as in the arms or back, sometimes also trembling or feeling of weakness
  • Swallowing
  • Equilibrium problems
  • Eye flickering or seeing from small black dots ("flying")
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Tension headache

The side effects should also be clarified separately, since they can also have another cause!

Causes

The causes of an cervical spine can also be very diverse. It is therefore advisable to have the symptoms examined by a specialist in order to rule out serious diseases. General causes of HWS syndrome are:

  • Misposition or dysbioses of the cervical spine
  • Intervertebral disc damage or arches (protrusions)
  • HWS trauma by, for example, accidents
  • Iron deficiency and lack of nutrients
  • CMD (craniomandibular dysfunction) or jaw misalignment
  • Muscular imbalances and the resulting one -sided or unbalanced stress
  • Falls of all kinds, martial arts such as judo, karate, wrestling
  • Extension of the neck joint association for general anesthesia

Where is the connection to histamine intolerance?

Nerve cells also have mast cells that are increasingly released under irritation or damage to the respective receptors. This can lead to a histplate, i.e. an increased histamine level in the body. See also our other article: How histamine affects your brain.

In the book "The Histamine error" by Kyra and Sascha Kauffmann this is described in the chapter "Knick in the Genick: the unstable spine" as follows: “In people with an unstable cervical spine, there may be constant irritation of sensors (proprizoceptors) and nerve fibers that come from Mast cells are surrounded. Even the smallest movements, such as half a head rotation, can cause a distribution of histamine in the brain from nerve cells. "

Dr. Bodo Kulinski shows in his interesting book "The HWS trauma" also these parallels. An interview with him is also included in the book by Kyra and Sascha Kauffmann. In a study by Dr. He was also able to prove Bodo Kulinski that 50% of patients with unstable cervical spine also have an increased histamine level. It is also interesting that patients with MCAs often suffer from an innate weakness of the collagen connective tissue with over -moving ribbons and muscles.

So if you already suffer from chronic HWS complaints, you already have a higher histamine level in the blood from scratch, so that the histamine barrel flows easier and faster. In the long term, the goal would be to relieve your HWS problems through targeted forms of therapy, which also has a positive effect on your histamine problems.

Therapy approaches

Depending on the expression and intensity of the problems and pain, a doctor is usually considering a doctor Physiotherapy or osteopathy for treatment, but sometimes are also Medication The necessary: This includes, for example, pain relievers, pain ointments, narcotics, muscle relaxants, warm paves or runs. Unfortunately, the medication only sticks to the "wound", so that the symptoms often return after stopping.

For continuing improvements, the most common is therefore Physiotherapy, massage or osteopathy arranged. Also Fasc. are suitable that can even be carried out by certain fascia roles or selected yoga exercises. In naturopathic history is also the Dorn break therapy widespread. A corresponding therapist uses massages, stretching and light pressure to bring everything back in place and gently narrowed down.

Some doctors and naturopaths are also happy to work Acupuncture. Additional medicinal herbs are also used in Chinese medicine - but special caution applies to histamine intolerance, because many substances are not well tolerated.

If psychosomatics play a role in a patient, one could also psychotherapy or psychological advisory hours are considered.

Also one Diet change to anti -inflammatory food can be useful. With histamine intolerance, this step can still be clarified by a doctor to avoid malnutrition. Nevertheless, a low -inflammatory diet is also useful for histamine intolerance, since histamine is an inflammatory mediator.

Sometimes it can help not to change the whole diet, but specifically determined Nutrients in the form of nutritional supplements to be added. Dr. Isabel only, which has its own naturopathic practice in Ettlingen, recommends an eye on the sufficient supply of Magnesium, iron, vitamin D3, B vitamins and omega-3 fats to keep.

The Herbal medicine And according to Dr. Only some plants in HWS syndrome therapy are helpful, which can be administered, for example, by Schüssler salts. Among other things include Curcumin (anti -inflammatory effect), incense (Boswellia Serrata - anti -inflammatory) and MSM (natural sulfur extract). It is important in individual cases to have the therapy accompanied by an experienced therapist in order to regularly adjust the therapy and to exclude interactions with other medication.

What you can do immediately

Movement exercises
If you suspect to suffer from the cervical spine syndrome, you could first try a few exercises that should relieve, relax and strengthen the cervical spine.

Is well known "Liebscher & Bracht", provide the countless videos on various problems of the musculoskeletal system on platforms such as YouTube for direct participation. Here you can find that YouTube channel. In the meantime there is too Liebscher & Bracht - therapistthat practice and treat the methods learned there. This is particularly advisable if your problem seems to be more serious or you fear that you could worsen with your own - possibly false - implementation.

However, you shouldn't do more than that on your own. Exercises like this can effectively relieve your symptoms and you have a way to help yourself in everyday life. However, a doctor should still be consulted for permanent relief and improvement in your symptoms, e.g. an orthopedist, osteopath or trauma surgeon in order to rule out possible serious illnesses

Reduction in stress
Zum temporären Lösen der Verspannungen, die häufig auch durch Stress und innere Unruhe und Anspannung entstehen können, eigenen sich auch Breathing and relaxation exercises. Also loose, non -exhausting Walks can be very pleasant and helpful.

We have to point out that all information on treatment methods, nutrients and vitamins and their effects relate to traditional knowledge, studies and opinions and experiences of therapists and literature. Our contribution cannot replace medical healing treatment with the diagnosis and therapy of a doctor. We cannot give a healing promise either. It is primarily about passing on information. In the event of serious illnesses, non -explanatory symptoms and uncertainty, you should see a doctor. The nutrients or forms of therapy mentioned are used for your own dangers. Everyone has to decide for themselves what and whether they have it!
