Important terms in histamine intolerance
There are many new technical terms for you when it comes to histamine intolerance. In this list we would like to introduce you to the most important technical terms and explain briefly. If you have a histamine intolerance, these terms will keep going.
Biogenic amine
Biogenic amine are dismantling products from amino acids and proteins. Some of these amine need the same enzymes that serve to reduce histamine. It follows that there are no longer enough enzymes available to reduce histamine. Other biogenic amines can also lead to the release of histamine, e.g. serotonin, dopamine, tyramine. Therefore, with a histamine intolerance, one should also pay attention to the content of other biogenic amine.
Diaminoxidase (dao)
Dao is an enzyme that builds histamine and other biogenic amine in the body. It is formed in the intestine, in the placenta and the kidneys.
DAO reduction disorder
The breakdown of histamine by the enzyme dao is reduced.
Dao inhibitor
Fabrics that reduce the effectiveness of the DAOS. Many medications or foods fall under it and thus aggravate histamine intolerance.
Elimination diet
Elimination diet means a diet that dispenses with certain foods. With histamine intolerance, this means food with histamine potential. Histamine intolerance can only be treated with an elimination diet as long as it is not genetic.
Histaminosis
Histaminosis means that there is too much histamine in the body, so that physical well -being is impaired and therapeutic measures are therefore necessary. Histaminosis = histamine intolerance.
Histamin liberators
Some foods do not contain histamine themselves, but can cause histamine to be released from the mast cells. Examples of this are: alcohol, citrus fruits, tomatoes, chocolate and seafood. But stress and effort can also lead to histamine being released.
Histamin N-methyltransferase (Hnmt)
The histamine n-methyltransferase (HNMT) is one of two enzymes that can dismantle histamine. In addition to the Diaminoxidase (DAO), it is the second important degradation path for histamine.
Potato rice diet
The potato rice diet is not a diet in the conventional sense, for example. The diet is carried out to confirm the suspicion diagnosis of histamine intolerance and to get into the permanent histamine -low diet.
Mast cells
Mast cells are part of the immune system. They belong to the group of white blood cells and ensure that they ward off pathogens and non -body substances. They are in the blood, but also in the body tissue. A fabric that is released from the mast cell is histamine. Histamine is released as an immediate measure in the event of injuries. For example, it increases blood permeability so that other white blood cells can come to the place of injury to keep pathogens away. If there are too many mast cells in the body or in an organ, too much histamine is released. There are allergy -like symptoms.
